FREA Won the Competition for Microsurgery and Reconstruction Foundation’s Central Building in Ankara

TİSK Academy Microsurgery and Reconstruction Foundation aims to carry out activities to prevent occupational accidents, to support accident victims and their families, to establish a culture of occupational health and safety in workplaces, and to carry out and support scientific research, practice and education in the field of medicine, especially microsurgery, in Turkey.
FREA as Emre Şavural, Fatih Yavuz, Kaan Özdemir, Ceyda Tok, Taylan Özgür Aksoy, Kutay Kaynak, Ramis Çetin, Sıla Kutlu, Sümeyye Nur Kırımlı, Selinay Ataselim, Nihal Esra Yörük, Can Kubin (Promim), Mert Ayaroğlu (IM Studio), Yaşar Aydoğan, Olcay Serezli, Serdar Bayram were members participating in the competition for the architecture of education, conference, management-administrative areas and technical units environments.
In the ‘COPULA’ project, FREA sought to reconcile dual uses of the building programme, its location and the topography of the Oran district setting. The ‘COPULA’ is the design of an environment ‘connecting two different conditions’. The winning project is an urban proposal that fully meets priorities of the competition: as a work of good architecture, it creates awareness, adds value to its surroundings, is iconic and innovative, is a pioneering work in terms of materials, structure and construction techniques, with specificities of a green building.
