January 23, 2026

Ege Mimarlık’s first issue of 2026 featured articles themed “The Limits of Freedom: Creative Practices in Architecture” as well as a special interview. In the interview titled “Discipline+: The Boundaries of Discipline in Architecture and Design”, moderated by Müge Cengizkan, Fatih Yavuz of FREA Architecture opened up a discussion on the limits of discipline through his own practice:
“The contemporary architect is no longer the isolated, omniscient figure of the past; instead, they represent a way of thinking that organizes data, creates meaning, and orchestrates multidisciplinary collaborations—even bringing new expertise into the fold where none existed. While designing space, we are simultaneously designing the flow of interdisciplinary knowledge. This is crucial, because a dense body of information needs to be coordinated, and this knowledge must be transformed into a functional, human-centred, environmentally responsive, and holistic system.”
