LAND SETTLEMENT
Land settlement for a land bigger than the program of the building and changeable height limit problem caused to develop a reflex different than a solution to the typical problem. Limit of Mania Line near the border of the site, airport and shopping center in neighboring parcels become determinant directly. The reality about the impossibility of urban relation with an airport runway and noise problem of planes landing and taking off signed to keep away from this edge when deciding settlement. Height values that can be built are the most in the south-east edge of the land and the least in northwest edge of the land.
Moreover, land that has a disconnected relation with the main transportation axis coming from the city center because of the park in front of the land does not have accessibility to the water, too. There are many limits in terms of settlement and program solution when evaluating not just program relationships and context of the program but also urban inputs.
The topic of the project is related directly to Çanakkale Wars, actually. The only input held on became The Dardanelles which is the common component of whole memory in this geography. The only trouble became to orient and look at it. Beside this, it is a conscious decision not to host any metaphor about war and its subcomponents in design. Relationship tried to create with The Dardanelles directed us to raise the design.
The building is located on the North West point of the land that allows building the highest volume moving away mania line limiting the height. Axis formed by reclining to the edge exists in the park in front of the land. It is planned to pass the road and continuing throughout the Tekel Storages which is planned to use as an open public area; also, stretching over the water as a platform. By this way, physical connection with the Dardanelles is provided. Placement of axis in the edge of the site provides remaining open space staying not fragmented as a whole.
Amphitheater starting from entrances rises two floors by adding functions of exhibition area and reading hall to itself. In brief, working is at top associates public and private usage. This place is the point that you can contact visually with the Dardanelles. It becomes the space that provides continuity of public and private common life and connects entrances to each other.
